Abstract

Our concern was to evaluate the listing of essential drugs at the Primary Care Health Centers. 14 (37%) lists of essential drugs of Primary Care Health Centers beloging to municipalities of province of Santiago. The Primary Care Health Center managed an average of 101.4 + 12.1 drugs. 5.6 + 3.7 being mentiones with .proprietary names. 4.7 + 2.6 fixed-ratio combination products were found with an average of 144.0 + 19.7 forms. The most frequently occurring, among others drugs, were acetylsalicylic acid, aminophylline, aluminum hydroxide, ferrous sulfate, furosemide and penicillins. These medicines were al-ready found in the 1969 National Formulary while, the less frequently occurring were those introduced more recently in the treatment of patients.
