Abstract

This paper is the second half of a proposal to include economic analysis into the health sector as necessity that cannont be postponed, in the quest for solutions to healthcare problems of Latin America. We propose nine areas of application, as follows; Health determinants and conditioners; health and its economic value; medical care demand and offer, health marketing balance, evaluation of health macroeconomics, policy instruments and the system as a whole, and health care planning, regulation and supervision. We propose a definition for each area of application in order to provide the reader with a proper action setting. Furthermore, we outline and discuss the fields of research already developed within each are and future potential development.
