Mortalidad del Adulto en Chile: 1975 a 1987
Keywords:
Adult Mortality, Chile, Causes of DeathAbstract
The adult mortality rate in Chile, between 1975 and 1987, is analised. This shows that the mortality rate has descended in the last ten years, especially in older age groups. After 35 years of age. Chilean mortality rates are considerably higher than those observed in the USA. Most causes of death show a stable incidence. However, the mortality rate due to gastric cancer and tuberculosis shows a descending tendency. Also, lung tumours, breast and prostate cancers show a regular ascendent tendency. A regional analysis shows a higher mortality rate in the II’ Region, especially in males. This is mainly due to lung cancer and myocardial infarction.
