The pediatric articles in ten Chilean biomedicals magazines published in 1984, 1985 and 1986 were analyzed in relation to the authors institutional location. From 466 pediatrics articles, 262 and 68 were published in the Revista de Pediatría y Pediatría respectively. 65.9%(n=307) were original research, 18% (n= 84) clinical cases, 15% article reviews and 1.1% others. The leading authors belonged to a university hospital in 65.1% (n=304) of the articles, mainly to the University of Chile (51.8% of all articles, n=242), whereas 31.3% (n=l46) work in a NHS institution. The second authors showed similar distribution in relation to their workplace. Most original articles included data from NHS institutions. Follow-up studies were infrequent, as well as was collaboration between university and NHS doctors.
