In Chile there are natural and anthropogenical sources of environmental contamination from arsenic, particularly chronic contamination of water supply in Antofagasta and arsenic released from mining activities in different regions of the country with occupational exposure. High rates of lung cancer in Antofagasta in relation with the rest of the country have been underline in these studies. Exposure to environmental arsenic constitutes a public health problem that is wider than natural water contamination problem flat is rider then natural water contamination.
