Abstract

The author presents the experience of the School of Public Health of the University of Chile in the field of training health professionals in the management of a disaster situation.
The interest in organizing seminars of this type depends on the need of having well trained personnel who had lived simulated disaster situations and who know the mein type of problems to be solved in an emergency.
Pan American Health 0rganization has been stimulating the interest in this subject producing audiovisual material of high quality, sending experts and contributing to the development of seminars. The specific objectives and information discussed in this seminars are presented.
