Abstract

The author points out that the external aid, frequently international, is a part of the concept of disaster and presents a brief description of international commitment in relation to natural disasters. Some specific aspects of this type of help are discussed, like utilization of campaign hospitals, voluntary work, radiocommunications and help in preparedness to face disasters.
As a conclusion the importance of the prevention and the development of previous planning is commented as well as the opportunity, efficacy and appropriateness of the international efforts to respond to true needs of the receiving countries.
