Abstract

This work describe characteristic of adolescents attending a Center of Comprehensive Care in a section of Eastern Santiago. Morbidity, age and sex are studied in relation to family and school problems and in relation to the frequency of psychotropic substances abuse. During 10 months, 250 adolescents were studied. 50,8% of diagnosus were "desadaptation" and 10.8% "anxiety". 45 youngesters abused alcohol and substance; 21 consumed marijuana and other substances occasionally and as a social behavior. Among mental disorders, 6,4% were depression syndromes. Mental retardation, schizophrenia and psychopathology were more frequent among men than yeomen, the majority of them with several family problems. The comparison between good clinical response and the rate of dropping out of the program with a higher rate of positive evolution suggest a good therapeutic result.
