Dinámica de la población médica chilena 1967 - 1985

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the changes of some demographic characteristics of the chilean medical population between 967 and 1985. The main facts observed are the improvement of the index Number of people by physician reaching in 1985 in a global sense satisfactory levels but showing important differences through the country. Another fact is the progressive rejuvenation of the medical population accompanied by an increase of theolder age groups. This fact encloses a reduction of the years of practice ex pressing a lower professional experience. A very interesting phenomenon is the increase of the feminine medical population mainly in the last years. On the other hand there is a high pof medical doctors defined as specialists who are concentrated in the main Regions of the country. AI last are analysed the implication of these characteristics in the medical care of the population.
