Condiciones de Eficiencia de las Postas Rurales. Chile - 1981

Abstract

The conditions of efficacy are studied in a 40 per cent of the Rural Sanitary Clinics of 8 Regions of the country (from the 4th to the 11th Regions) that sum up 310 clinics. The methods utilized are schemes of evaluation, the bases of which are directed to the attainment of information on: (1) a general report on each consulting clinic; (2) its physical capacity; (3) its availability of staff; (4) the availability of materials; (5) the existence of norms and procedures, and (6) its organization and management. To each of these aspects a quota has been assigned in accordance to the relative importance in the delivery of medical care, within a scale from 1 to 1.000 points. This has permitted the classification of the degree of efficacy of these services in four categories:
Very adequate 900 to 1.000 points
Sufficient 750 to 899 points
Less than sufficient 500 to 749 points
Inadequate 499 and less.
The analysis of results demonstrates that the conditions of efficacy of Rural Sanitary Clinics evaluated have shown to be very homogeneous in these Regions. All of them denote deficient aspects from the standpoint of their physical capacities, of their material availabilities and of the application of norms issued by the Ministry of Health.
