Abstract

The adolescent undergoes a particularly difficult period of his individual development which originates health needs that are inherent to his age. These include physical, psychiatrical and socio - familiar aspects: information about the lapse of maturity and growing; detection and treatment of frequent diseases such as those of endocrinous and nutritional nature, complications of the reproductive cycle; cutaneous, sensorial, and orthopedic diseases, likewise those refering to the comprehension of his own world, to the control of impulse and sexual orientation; development of his interpersonal and particularly familiar relations. The necessity of planning a program of health attention, exclusive for the adolescent, is recommended, having as a purpose to attain the integral development of each individual. Among its general characteristics are: the accesibility, fluidity, privacy, protector environment and, mainly, to hold a personal appraiser attitude from the professional. The activities are oriented fundamentally toward promotion and protection of health as those dealing with education of groups, health control, social interviews, maternal control and medico - dental consultation. Finally, the conclusion is that the adolescent requires interest and special dedication profesionals to attain the objectives of his development.
