Atención Primaria de la Salud. El Programa de La Reina

Abstract

A summary of the circunstances under which this program has been initiated and an analysis of the definition and agreements of the Alma Ata Conference. This event purposed a strategy destined to attain a "medicine for everybody" as a reaction against a medicine the mayority of which is centered in the Hospital for care delivered to a feeble percentage of the population. An excessive specialization has destroyed the continuity and personification of the dialogue physician-patient that could enable them to alleviate most of bad health. The author emphasizes the necessity and advantages of placing the family in the center of health care and analyzes conditions and peculiarities. Finally, a reference is made to the fact that academical and assistance subprogram initiated by the Eastern Division of Sciences of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Chile, and the Peripheric Consultation "La Reina" have begun in 1982.
