Abstract

Latin America currently faces an increase in the migratory flux. In the case of Chile, the in- creasing arrival of international migrants has posed several challenges in all fields: health, justice, house-holding, urban cohabitation. It has become evident that migration is a social determinant of health, and in some cases, when it intersects with gender, ethnicity, origin, and so forth, it can determinate a social vulnerability status. The feminization of migration based on the Global Care Chain reflects that there is a transnational reality that has become visible and that impacts directly in women’s health. Thus, this population group requires differentiated attention, taking into ac- count every factor that influences its dynamics of life. This article extends an invitation to recognize the roll of women in the socio-economical development on the basis of care and to assert their labor, turning it into a main target for upcoming health policies addressed to promote their personal and professional growth, respecting their human and civil rights.
