Objective: Identify the health consequences of people who have contracted covid-19 and have alerted health authorities regarding the additional costs that could be expected not only due to the prevalence and incidence of the pandemic, but also due to the increased demand for health goods and services for other pathologies as a consequence of it.
Methodology: To systematize the summaries and conclusions of documents and opinions of experts in different countries regarding different types of health impacts.
Outcomes: There are few studies on specifc health consequences of those infected with COVID-19.
However, the studies show a statistically robust evidence that, depending on the severity of COVID-19, may lead to greater subsequent incidences in mental, neurological, psychiatric diseases and in heart problems, diabetes, and chronic liver and kidney diseases.
Discussion: The health consequences of Covid-19 may imply greater demands on resources in the health system, which requires the creation of an institutional framework to monitor around 500,000 people who, in Chile, have been or will be in serious condition or in ICU for covid-19 between 2020 and 2021.
