Abstract

In the present work there is a description of the penal protection of the environment in Chile in which the model of dispensing with the penal instrument to protect the environment as a system is a characteristic. This makes it necessary to briefy review the environmental administrative regulation and criminal provisions, conceived for other purposes that allow addressing events that threaten the environment. Despite the advances of the last decades, it has not been possible to move to a regulation model, whether general or special, and there is little prospect of doing so.
