Abstract

World epidemiologic breast cancer data are analyzed. Breast cancer mortality rate in Chile is submitted according to the information of the Ministry of Health. Breast cancer incidence rates regarding women age in Chile during the last years are analyzed for women who belong to the Public Health System due to information given by the 28 Health Authorities Services throughout Chile. Different risk factors of breast cancer are discussed according to the risk grade. Hormone Replacement Therapy at menopause and risk cancer is analyzed with the scientific evidence on the last years. The effects of different progestagens and their possible relation with the increase of breast cancer risk are discussed. It concludes that woman age is one of the more relevant risk factors of breast cancer. Besides, the increase of breast cancer risk with the use of estrogenic therapies is very low and the elevated risk described with combined therapies is of the responsibility of some progestagen.
