Abstract

This document presents background information supporting the importance of biodiversity conservation in Chile and the use of its species, in order to ensure the sustainable development of our country, this allowing a better quality of life for future generations. It summarizes the concrete agreements adopted unanimously in the plenary sessions of the Chilean Sustainable Development Council (SDC), with the participation of the Chilean Medical Association. These are aimed at ensuring biodiversity and conservation of the genetic patrimony in Chile. These agreements constitute recommendations addressed by the SDC to the President of the Republic, with the purpose of contributing to the achievement of the above objectives.
