Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the incidence of bronchopneumonia in our population and their distribution by sector, village and street, doing, furthermore, a first approximation to their risk factors. The clinical files of the patients presenting with this diagnosis in 1998 were reviewed. Studies in situ confirmed the inadequate socioenvironmental conditions in which they lived. The under-six-years old accounted for two-thirds of the medical consultations, the majority being for respiratory pathology. The incidence of bronchopneumonia and the concentration of medical consultations were significantly higher in certain neighbourhoods and streets.
