Indicadores epidemiológicos y económicos: propuesta de un marco integral para la acción en reformas de salud

Abstract

This article presents a framework of analysis proposed for the study of epidemiological changes and costs that the demand of health care services will generate to health systems. The framework was integrated from three levels of conceptual approach: 1) central elements from the theory of epidemiological transition, 2) contributions from health economics and 3) the criteria of efficiency. The different elements of each conceptual approach integrate a perspective analysis that could be used to address the epidemiological analysis of health conditions. and the economical analysis of health systems. This perspective may develop new methods for the generation of relevant knowledge in public health, particularly for the process of design, implementation and assessment of health care reform.
