Based on the review of the article Hospitals and Health Equity — Translating Measurement into Action, the author revisits the debate about the collective role of hospitals, not only as institutions that provide individual health care, but as institutions that can deepen in understanding public health. Reviewing the role of the hospital to which he is attached in state violence, ventilatory support in a pandemic, viral surveillance, nutritional status, among others, the author reaffirms that public health is a full exercise in public hospitals.
